Larry Raney
When he’s not working as a duck guide, Larry Raney lives in Michigan with his wife Kristie and their son and daughter. Larry has always been an avid outdoor enthusiast. For the past thirteen years, he has worked as a fly fishing guide on the Manistee River for Schmidt Outfitters out of Wellston, MI. In addition to being an expert angler and duck guide, Larry specializes in upland bird hunting and spring turkey hunts.
Larry got his start duck hunting as a teenager and began making the trek to Arkansas eleven years ago. In Michigan, duck season ends the first week of December, so by traveling south, Larry was able to enjoy warmer weather and an extended season. His personal hunting trips led to professional opportunities and soon, Larry was working as a goose guide in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He transitioned to duck guiding after two years and now the Grand Prairie is in his blood.
This will be Larry’s eighth season guiding in the Stuttgart, AR area. He works with his black Lab, Windy, and the challenge he enjoys most is helping clients succeed at fooling the birds in their natural environment.
